Hello, we are Matter Wholefoods. First opened in Greenbank at the end of March 2014, we pride ourselves on being one of the most passionate organic fruit, veg and wholefood suppliers in Bristol. We are run on a predominantly voluntary basis by a dedicated, enthusiastic team of workers who share the vision of helping create an alternative source of healthy, wholesome food at the lowest price possible.

Since opening, we have been working to provide an outlet for accessible organic, and wherever possible, fair trade, local & seasonal produce, as well as specializing in super foods & other dried wholefoods. We also offer a platform for developing businesses to sell their handmade products & creations to our ever growing customer base and are always looking to grow our shop front and variety of products on sale.

Conscience Foods & Lifestyle

www.facebook.com/Consciencefoods

1 Bath Hill, Keynsham, Bristol BS31 1EB

Why the name? Because increasing awareness & allowing informed choices on the foods we eat & the lifestyles we lead, becomes down to our individual conscience.

Preaching good things to people is never going to work. That’s why we try to offer a huge selection of organic, local & plastic-free products to stay healthy & protect our precious environment from more harm. In doing so, we are also protecting our planet for future generations and for our sacred animals & struggling wildlife.

When you shop at Conscience Foods & Lifestyle, you are not only helping us, as a small business with a small team, but you are also helping other small & local businesses who supply us with some fantastic artisan products. Because we trade ethically, you may pay a little more for some of our products, we know.

We are talking English wines, crusty sourdough bread which takes 48h to ferment, micro-breweries, jams & chutneys, as much locally grown fruit & veg as we can get (all organic of course) and a huge selection of food & toiletry refills to reduce single use plastic … Plus lots more.

37 Walcot St, Bath BA1 5BN

We are an independent health food shop situated at the bottom of Gloucester Rd, next to the Price of Wales pub; a bustling area full of other independently run small shops, cafes and businesses in Bristol. Part of Essential Trading Co-operative, we operate under the same principles.

We have a fresh deli which features a wide variety of fresh snacks and cakes. Full of pies, quiches, cakes, falafels, plus, much, much more, a lot of them vegan or gluten free.

Harvest has been supplying the people of Bath with a cornucopia of natural, non-GMO, vegetarian & vegan food, and ecological products for over 35 years. In 1971 they supplied the second Glastonbury festival and their very first customer still shops with them today.

Our famous deli sections stock locally-prepared vegetarian & vegan savoury and sweet specialities including our scrumptious filled rolls.

We are an independent and local shop that for 30 years has stood up against additive-driven fake food and the industrialization of eating. We are a workers co-operative that is positively different from the normal high street monoculture of clone shops. harvest-bath.coop

Better Food is creating a fairer food system for all by championing farmers, local producers and small-scale businesses; and paying them a fair price. We stock a large range of free-from foods and vegan products, many of which you won’t find in the supermarket as they are made in small batches. Among our tasty treats and staples you will find coconut yogurt, cashew cheese, Radeks raw chocolate, Booja Booja, Hobb’s House Bread, vegan wine and beer, and organic fruit and veg from The Community Farm.

Better Food has three stores in Bristol, each with a café and deli counter. Our cafés became the first in England to receive Organic Served Here status, and serve up vegan brunch, lunches, juices and cakes daily. With prices ranging from £3-£7.50, we show that organic, vegan food need not break the bank.

The newest shop in the Better Food family is based at Wapping Wharf by the Harbourside. It is in a fantastic location for South Bristolians and those visiting and working in the city center. This store has the added bonus of a sunny outdoor terrace adjoining the café, which is the perfect spot to people watch in the summer.

Earthbound

8 Abbotsford Rd, Bristol BS6 6HB

My personal favourite, especially as it is only about 300 yards from my front door. Rammed full of the best quality organic fruit and veg, with fresh deliveries daily. Great selection of hummus including San Amvrosia and Natural Vitality, plus smoothies, juices, hemp oil and a first rate selection of vegan chocolate, as well as Sikelia range of exotic Sicilian pestos.

Worth a weekly visit not just for the staples but also for some unusual variations that pop up from time to time especially in the fresh section. Must visit experience if you value your food. From A VEGAN GUIDE TO BRISTOL PUBLISHED BY YAOH
