1847 closed on the 21st July

1847 is a national collection of restaurants that specialise in plant based, vegetarian cuisine. Established in 2011 by Damien Davenport, 1847 has grown and developed a strong following who’s taken to this modern approach to dining.

Named after the year the vegetarian society formed, 1847 serves modern dishes across four menus; á la carte, taster, Sunday lunch and express lunch. Alongside our food, we serve cocktails, wines, beers and spirits.

Located in the heart of the city, 1847 Bristol is positioned along St Stephens Street and just minutes from the main hotels, theatres, shopping district and harbour side. Clifton is also just a 5-10 minute taxi ride away. Head Chef Jilisa Barnaby and her team serve a range of menus over lunch and dinner Wednesday to Sunday.

  1. I went on Sunday and was pretty impressed. Had the mushroom pate to start (which was effing stunning) and the beet bourginoun for mains (as they’d run out of the fish), which tasted lovely, but was a little weird as it was just a big plate of purple.

  2. I went to 1847 last night, dragged some friends along. I was very impressed! Also they were doing 50% off everything for Monday’s!

  3. The menu looks impressive but taste wise, it was so-so, as if the chef didn’t even taste the food. There are so many great veggie restaurants but I was hoping 1847 would become Bristol’s answer to Acorn Vegetarian Kitchen in Bath but alas it wasn’t to be:-(

  4. Went for lunch there on Thursday and the food was great – the service, while a bit slow as they’re still finding their feet, was also very friendly and attentive.

  5. Very promising opening for the Bristol branch of 1847 restaurant. The food we tried from their tempting menu was spot on: prefectly cooked, beautifully presented.
