My animal consumption has stopped – along with the skin problems

Hi I am Rob Dodd – Bristol Vegan

4 years ago I was struggling with my health. Ulcerative Colitis (a long-term condition, where the colon and rectum become inflamed), Eczema (a condition that causes the skin to become itchy, red, dry and cracked), Psoriasis (a skin condition that causes red, flaky, crusty patches of skin covered with silvery scales) and Chronic Urticaria (also known as hives, welts or nettle rash – is a raised, itchy rash that appears on the skin) … Overweight and tortured by diseases.

And I mean torture, I looked terrible and felt depressed.

After a cancer scare – this time repeating and painful throat ulcers, I started to take notice of food. I started juicing, and cut out wheat. This had a good effect on the Colitis, but I was still tormented by the skin conditions and still had issues with weight.

A stroke of luck came in September 2012, one of my dance friends Laura Wilson (Author of the Alkaline 5 diet) challenged me to a Vegan month.

This was a challenge for me as I was not vegetarian, and didn’t know where to start. I completed the challenge , and whilst doing this I watched a few candid videos on the meat and dairy industry – and the mental and physical cruelty involved .

Since then my animal consumption has stopped – along with the skin problems. My wife also joined me after tasting the food, and watching the “got milk” video. I am still learning the Vegan lifestyle, but am free of pain. My blood chemistry is fantastic, no lack of nutrients..and our food tastes amazing!

  1. I am so happy with Rob’s story. He really took onboard the principles of my book, The Alkaline 5 Diet and vegan lifestyle and is reaping the benefits. Well done Rob! He looks so healthy, happy and full of energy when I see him at dance event 🙂
