Yes the rumours are true, Maitreya Social is in the process of changing hands. Myself and the team will be operating until the 15th September as normal. I am moving to California to pursue many new things. The new owners will indeed be the Bristolian. As far as their plans for the restaurant go I am not involved and so I would rather not speculate. Best wishes, Barney

  1. Always impressed with the food here, they do great snacks, teas, coffees, and lovely desserts too. My only criticism would be that I didn’t find the wooden benches situated by the wall overly comfortable to sit on (usually sit on the chairs and definitely prefer them). Other than that, great place to eat out; my Sunday roast was delicious (quinoa and smoked parsnip stuffed vine leaves, kale, roast potatoes, red wine gravy, carrot, beetroot), and the staff are always friendly and cheerful.

  2. Maitreya is a lovely place to eat – whether you’re stopping off for a quick cup of tea and a bowl of crispy chunky chips, a cider and a roast dinner on a Sunday afternoon, or a full on 3 course meal – the food is fantastic and the menu changes with the seasons so all year round you have a great variety on offer.

Not everything is vegan but there is always a very good choice, and some veggie dishes are veganisable if you ask.

Their vegan roast dinner is amazing and I’m looking forward to going back for another!
